Gov. Pete Ricketts addressed a letter from Grand Island State Sen. Dan Quick calling for a statewide stay-at-home order – or at the very least, one for Grand Island.
“We’ll always consider all the tools that are available at our disposal but, again if you look at just broadly statewide, we are managing this. Our health care system is not overwhelmed and, particularly with regard to Grand Island as I mentioned, we’re managing that as well,” said Gov. Ricketts. “So, what we need is to make sure that we’re doing a better job reaching out to those communities where English is not a first language and make sure they’re getting the right information about doing all the social distancing things that other people are doing that have been working to be able to slow the spread of virus here in our state.”
The Central District Health Department area now reports 590 cases and 14 deaths. All but 30 cases are in Hall County. Two Rivers Public Health Department reports two new area cases – both in Dawson County – bringing that county’s total to 176 and the district’s total to 244.
UPDATE: Nebraska will dramatically increase the number of people tested for the coronavirus over the next few weeks using a program that was recently launched in Utah and Iowa. Gov.
