Husker women’s basketball has been all smiles through the holiday weekend.
After Sam Haiby beat the buzzer to propel Nebraska (5-3, 3-2 Big Ten) over No. 15 Northwestern on New Year’s Eve, the Huskers dominated the fourth quarter Sunday to hold off Rutgers (5-3, 1-3 Big Ten) 53-50.
Down four early in the final frame, Haiby scored six of Nebraska’s 9-0 run. The Huskers forced enough misses and converted their free throws down the stretch to secure the victory.
The Huskers shot 35.1 percent from the field, including 4-of-18 from 3.
Haiby scored 16 points to go with five rebounds and five assists. Isabelle Bourne notched her second straight double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Ashley Scoggin made three of Nebraska’s four 3s to add 11 points. Bella Cravens once again dominated the boards, grabbing a game-high 13.
The next week of action features a pair of top-25 road matchups, Thursday at No. 16 Michigan (6-0, 1-0 Big Ten) then Sunday at No. 25 Michigan State (8-0, 3-0 Big Ten).
