“Dangerous: The Double Album” Review

By Lisa Williams Jan 19, 2021 | 12:23 PM

I remember the days when you waited and waited for your favorite artist to release a new album.  Then you would save your money and drive to the store to get it.  It was all you talked about.  Who had the new cassette or CD?

The world has changed with music downloads and instant sharing and artists releasing a song at a time.  This month I felt like it went back to the old days, as I heard many excitedly talking about the release of the new album from Morgan Wallen.  It was his second album and it didn’t come out quietly. It started with some Walmart stores accidentally releasing the album a week early. This lead to Morgan releasing a video on social media expressing his anger and telling people to go buy it at Target and you would also get two extra songs.

The “Dangerous” project took 3 years to complete. Without touring in 2020 it gave extra time to Morgan to create the double album.

Morgan Wallen is a former voice contestant from East Tennessee who released his debut single back in 2016, “The Way I Talk” and since then he has had four number ones on Country Radio.

On it’s original release date the buzz continued as I heard and saw many discussing it on social media and in person.  I was already planning to review the double album, but now I also decided I would use the opinion of family and friends with an unofficial poll.

What is a word or words you would use to describe Morgan Wallen’s album?

Katie : Top tier, on repeat, AMAZING

Michelle : I’ve listened to it 3 times and it gets better each time

Becka : The entire album is amazing. It gets better every time.

Becky : It’s “the office” of country music, could listen to it all day every day.

Amy : Every time I listen to it I love it more and more! In fact been listening to it at work all day today.

Do you have a favorite song on his new release?

Katie : Dangerous or Whiskey’d My Way

Becka : I enjoy 865. Also, I think it’s funny that that is a real phone number and he apologized for it lol.

Amy : Cover me up!! Just makes me happy

I will answer the same questions that I asked.  I enjoy every track of this album.  They vary in sound and style and show his true range.  You can hear all the different styles of country music artists you currently hear every day on the radio but with a new twist. I have listened to it on replay for over a week and have not once skipped any of the songs.  That rarely happens!  Another thing that rarely happens is the hard time I had picking out my favorite track.  Usually there are one or two stand outs to pick from an album.  This one just kept giving.  I was only able to narrow it down to my top 9 out of 30.  I tried, I really did.

My favorites were Blame It On Me, Somebody’s Problem, Quittin’ Time, Cover Me Up, More Surprised Than Me, 865, Outlaw, Me On Whiskey, and Whiskey’d My Way (which was co-written by Thomas Rhett).  Those don’t even count the three songs we had already heard from him This Bar, 7 Summers, and More Than My Hometown.

One interesting thing to note is that all the people I spoke to picked a different song which shows he is speaking to several fans and reaching them in different ways.

I am listening to the album again as I type this.  I am excited for you to listen to it too.  I highly recommend Morgan Wallen “Dangerous: The Double Album”.  If you are not already a fan of his; you soon will be.
