KGFW Sports – #600 for Cook, Jays Face Bobcats and High School Update

By News Mar 22, 2021 | 5:57 AM

The 5th ranked Nebraska volleyball team swept Iowa for the second time this week with a 25-14, 25-20, 25-13 win on Saturday night at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. The win was coach John Cook’s 600th as Nebraska head coach. The Huskers travel to Michigan this week for matches both Thursday and Friday.

One other Husker volleyball note:
– Sophomore right-side hitter Riley Zuhn has suffered a foot injury that will keep her out for the remainder of the season.

Sam Haiby scored 20 points to lead five Huskers in double figures, but Colorado held on for a 75-71 win over Nebraska in the round of 16 at the WNIT Saturday night in Memphis. The Husker women end the season with a 13-13 overall record that included a 9-10 mark in the Big Ten play.

Fifth-seeded and No. 19 ranked Creighton defeated UC Santa Barbara Saturday, 63-62. With victory the Bluejays advance to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time in the last decade. Creighton will face the 13th seed Ohio tonight at 5:10. The winner will face either Gonzaga or Oklahoma in the Sweet 16 next weekend.

The Nebraska baseball team took 2-of-3 from the Iowa Hawkeyes in Iowa City this weekend. The Huskers home opener is this Friday. The Huskers will host Minnesota in a four game series. First pitch at Hawks Field will be Friday at 2:00.

The Tri-City Storm pushed their winning streak to three in-a-row with a pair of wins over Sioux Falls at the Viaero Center this past weekend. The Storm will close out a four game homestand Friday when they host the Omaha Lancers.
