No. 5 Nebraska earns backdoor sweep at Michigan

A slow start, then all Huskers Thursday in Ann Arbor.

No. 5 Nebraska (13-2) dropped set 1 to Michigan (4-6) 25-19. The Wolverines led by as much as 19-7 before the Huskers made the final score respectable.

But it was all Huskers from there. Set 2 saw Nebraska race out to a 5-0 lead before coasting to a 25-16 win. Set 3 was no closer as the Huskers dominated 25-15. Then in set 4, Michigan held a 12-10 lead but after a Lexi Sun kill, NU ran away with the rest of the set 25-20 for the 3-1 match victory.

Nebraska hit .232 on the match while adding 11 blocks and 10 aces. Michigan was held to just .154 hitting.

Reigning Big Ten Player of the Week Sun led the Huskers with 13 kills to go with six digs and three blocks. Lauren Stivrins added 10 blocks and five kills while hitting .368. Also in double figures was Madi Kubik, tallying 10 kills and 12 digs.

Nicklin Hames had 34 assists and 16 digs to go with a season-best five kills.

Nebraska and Michigan play again Friday.
