The first of likely several All-American nods came in Thursday morning for Nebraska infielder and relief pitcher Spencer Schwellenbach.
Collegiate Baseball Newspaper named Schwellenbach to the second-team as the utility player. The Big Ten Player of the Year enters the postseason hitting .289 with 12 doubles, six home runs, and 35 RBIs in 43 games while holding a 0.71 ERA and 29 strikeouts over 25.1 innings on the mound.
Iowa’s Trevor Lawrence was the only other Big Ten player to be honored.
Nebraska opens regional play Friday at 7 pm against the Colonial Athletic Association champion Northeastern. The Huskers will then play either host Arkansas or NJIT.
