A little more on Lainey

By Lisa Williams Sep 7, 2022 | 9:25 AM

Lainey Wilson got the most CMA Nominations today.  Her name is being heard everywhere, and it is well deserved.

ACM New Female of the Year 2022 winner, Lainey Wilson is a name you are going to keep hearing, having been named to nearly every “Artist to Watch” list, winning MusicRow Magazine’s Discovery Artist of the Year award and being crowned Billboard’s “Top New Country Artist of 2021”.  The Louisiana native landed her first No. 1 with her PLATINUM Certified ACM Song of the Year “Things A Man Oughta Know,” nearly 10 years to the day after leaving home to chase her dreams.

A successful songwriter (having co-writer credits on songs by artists including Luke Combs, Flatland Cavalry, Thompson Square and more), Lainey delivers one of the “Top Country Albums of 2021” (Rolling StoneTaste of Country, and American Songwriter) with her debut album, Sayin’ What I’m Thinkin’. She has performed for sold-out crowds throughout the US, UK, and Germany with notable names like Jason Aldean, Morgan Wallen, Hardy, Jon Pardi, Ashley McBryde, Randy Houser and more.

She has made her mark with her duets as well.  She returned to the top of the Country radio charts with the two-week No. 1 hit, “Never Say Never” with Cole Swindell.  Lainey has now teamed up with Hardy for a murder ballad titled “Wait in the Truck”.

After having several of her songs played on the hit TV show Yellowstone, they decided to write a character just for her.  Lainey will be playing the part of a musician in Season 5 of Yellowstone. They began filming in Montana in mid-May, and it’s scheduled to premiere on Nov. 13.

Today she received the most CMA Awards nominations with six.  Categories include Female Artist, Album, Song, Event, Video, and New Artist.  The awards will air Wednesday, November 9th at 7pm on ABC.

Wilson’s brand-new album,  Bell Bottom Country, will be released Oct. 28. Its lead single “Heart Like a Truck,” is currently climbing up the country radio charts.  The date of her album release is the same day she will be in Omaha performing with Luke Combs at CHI Health Center.  You can link up for show information and tickets at https://krny.com/events/320862/
