On Tuesday, I-80 between Shelton and Wood River was closed due to a peroxide leak that stemmed from a single vehicle crash from icy conditions.
The incident occurred past 7 a.m. Tuesday morning, when a semi transporting organic peroxide crashed.
No injuries were reported.
However, due to the nature of the leak I-80 between Shelton and Wood River was closed and traffic was diverted. The closure lasted for 24 hours, and opened back up Wednesday after 9 a.m.
According to the Nebraska State Patrol a hazmat team from North Platte was called for cleanup, and with assistance from local fire departments.
After about 24 hours, I-80 from Shelton to Wood River is open again.

Thankfully no injuries, but the crash caused a leak of organic peroxide, which required specialized Hazmat cleanup.
