A Lexington man was arrested following a multi-county pursuit Friday.
Officers arrested Jesus Torres, 42 for flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, and obstructing a peace officer.
On Friday at 9:15 a.m., Nebraska State Patrol troopers were notified by Logan County Sheriff’s Office about a pursuit on a speeding vehicle on Highway 83 that fled an attempted traffic stop. The suspect vehicle, a Chevrolet Silverado, sped southbound on Highway 83 and at times drove into the northbound lane. The Logan County deputy discontinued pursuit at the Lincoln County line, there Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies and North Platte Police officers picked up the pursuit before discontinuing again out of public safety as the vehicle entered North Platte.
At 10 a.m., the suspect vehicle was seen traveling eastbound on I-80 and a trooper attempted a stop on the vehicle. The vehicle accelerated and fled, initiating a pursuit. The Dawson County Sheriff’s Office also joined the pursuit. The suspect vehicle exited I-80 at mile marker 231, turned eastbound on Highway 30, and continued towards Lexington. The pursuit was discontinued as the vehicle entered Lexington.
NSP dispatchers were able to confirmed the address associated with with vehicle. Troopers, Dawson County deputies, and Lexington Police officers responded to that address and located the vehicle in the driveway. The registered owner of the vehicle exited the residence and attempted to flee on foot. He was quickly apprehended.
Torres was lodged in Dawson County Jail. Additional charges are possible in relation to the incidents in Logan and Lincoln counties.
