LEXINGTON — The Lexington Police Department is informing residents of a new imposter scam that is occurring.

Unknown subjects are calling people claiming to be a family member either in custody or in trouble and requesting funds be sent to them.

“If you receive a similar call, please reach out to family members before simply sending any type of funds. Never provide anyone with any type of banking information or personal information no matter who they claim to be,” the Lexington Police state.

Captain Paul Schwarz said if a resident has been a victim of, or have questions regarding this scam, they can to call the department at 308-324-2317.
