KEARNEY — A shorthanded Kearney city council approved applications for the vacation of lots and a rezone for a property on first reading during their meeting Tuesday, Oct. 24.
The hearings concerned a property on 77 Sweetwater Ave.
John Krotz, applicant for John Krotz and Michelle Krotz, presented the vacation of Lot 1 in the Buffalo Island Subdivision; the rezone from Agriculture, AG to Rural Residential, RR-1; the preliminary plat and final plat for the property.
Krotz said he had purchased the four acres in the area initially and then three more acres to the north and east.
The plan was to divide the property into three different lots.
City staff said the items met their guidelines and the Planning Commission had forwarded the applications with their approval.
The city council members approved the items on first reading, two absent members meant the council couldn’t suspend the rules and approve everything on final reading.
Hearings to consider an application from James Nickman with Blue Water Investments, LLC, to amend a land use map, rezone and approve the final plat for a property near the southwest corner of 2nd Ave. and 98th St. was postponed until the Nov. 14 meeting.
Open claims with Goodwill, $116.36 and the Nebraska Public Power District, $119,189.55 were also postponed until the next council meeting.
