Kearney High Wrestling State Dual v. Northwest 2024 // Mitchell Brandt
The Kearney High wrestling teams split their CHaT duals with Grand Island Northwest on Tuesday, with the girls team falling in a pinfest, while the boys team dominated over the Vikings.
The Bearcats would take a 24-0 lead going into the 120lb matchup, where Kali Kuck would win by fall over Kinleigh Coffman. Trinity Nagatini would pick up the last Bearcat victory at 125lbs, before the Vikings would pin the rest of the way and win 42-36.
On the boys side, Kearney had nine pins over Northwest, adding a Jack Sponenburgh tech fall at 106lbs and a 12-2 major decision by Sam Nachtigal at 157lbs.
The Boys travel this weekend to Garden City, Kansas where they will compete in the Rocky Welton Invite. The Girls will stay in-state, competing at the Cedar Bluffs tournament on Saturday.
