KEARNEY — With the incredible generosity of Central Nebraska on display for two days, Y102 has announced the total amount raised during their 23rd annual “24 Hours of Hope,” St. Jude radiothon event.

The total amount raised for the 2024 event is $326,423! That total tops the previous record amount of $307,021 that was raised in 2018. This year’s amount surpasses that previous record by over $19,000.  Last year’s event raised $303,622.  “This is another big win for the kids at St. Jude”, said Scott O’Rourke.

The 2024 event was Y102’s 23rd year running a radiothon to raise money for the kids at St. Jude.  The grand total for those 23 years has now officially gone over four million ($4,102,810).

Y102 (KRNY-FM) morning show hosts Scott O’Rourke & Lisa Williams who host all 24 hours of hope live on Y102 over the two days of the radiothon were overcome with gratitude for the people and businesses of Central Nebraska who make this annual fundraising event so successful.  Thanks also went out to all the volunteers involved because all of this could not happen without them.  This includes many families of former patients from around the state who help with this effort each year.

“The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of our founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family’s ability to pay,” per St. Jude’s website.

“Unlike other hospitals, the majority of our funding comes from individual contributions. And thanks to generous donors, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food,” per the website.
