GRAND ISLAND — Community policing is more than just a goal for Grand Island Police Chief Kevin Denney – it’s a priority.
On Monday, April 1, Grand Island Television Productions launched a new series titled ‘The Business Beat.’ It features Chief Denney visiting one local small business per month to talk with owners and patrons about its Grand Island roots and what makes stand out.
Episode 1 features Tacos Los Hermanos, which is located at 602 W. 4th Street. The Sanchez brothers describe what led them to ownership of the restaurant and how humble beginnings have now led to a two-city operation.
“Often, you’ll hear agencies say they’re community driven, but more times than not you’ll find them behind their desks or in their cars,” Chief Denney said. “At GIPD, we’re turning community policing into action. Each month, I’ll not only be out of my office, but I’ll be in the trenches with local businesses that help make Grand Island such a great place to live.”
New episodes of ‘The Business Beat’ debut on the first day of every month on GITV, as well as the Grand Island Police Department’s and City of Grand Island’s social media platforms. The 2024 season of the series is dedicated to local food and beverage businesses. Future years will feature businesses ranging from arts & entertainment to retail.
