HASTINGS – The Hastings College men’s wrestling team hosted the Hastings Open on Saturday inside the Physical Fitness Facility and here are the results.

At 125, Justin Rodriquez started his day with a close 9-8 loss to Elijah Asuncion of Missouri Valley to move into the consolation bracket. There he defeated Bryson Bussinger of Concordia via pinfall at the 4:14 mark and then defeated Logan Schroeder of Northwestern via pinfall in just :08. He moved into the consolation semifinals where he had a chance to redeem himself against Asuncion and he did just that with an 11-5 victory to move into the third place match. He went on to defeat Wyatt Engwicht of Dickinson St. 13-6 to claim third place.

Also at 125 Jordan O’Connor began his day by defeating Isaac Stewart of Mary 8-5 before defeating Schroeder via an 11-3 major decision moving him into the semifinal match. There he lost to Alan Koehler of Nebraska and then fell to Engwicht in the consolation semifinal to end his day.

At 149 Jack Morton would end his day going 2-2. At 197 Dallas Paxton started his day with two quick pins against Ramazan Abukir wrestling unattached and Logan Kuehl of Dickinson State before dropping his next two matches to end his day 2-2.

The Broncos will be back in action Tuesday Jan. 9 taking part in the Oklahoma Wesleyan Duals set to begin at 2:00 pm down in Bartlesville, OK.
