The Papillion-LaVista South Titans (0-3) drop their third straight game to start 2024, having faced a gauntlet of opponents to start the season with Millard South, Bellevue West, and Kearney on the road.

Kearney (2-0) earned the win with four runs on five hits and one error while the Titans fell with two runs on six hits and one error.

Papio-South went up early in the top of the second with one run scored, but Kearney responded by strong plate appearances to load the bases until Garrison Burns was hit by pitch to bring Bryce Anderson in for the first score of the day. Kearney added a second run to take the lead, and would score another two in the third inning to lead 4-1.

The bottom of the third had Beau Skala’s triple bring in Anderson for his second run, while Kegan Brand grounded out to score another.

The Titans would add another run, but could not garner further damage falling 4-2 on the road.

Derrick Nonhof took the win for Kearney, going six innings giving up six hits, two runs (one earned), and striking out three while walking one. Brand would come in relief, collecting the save in the final inning with two strikeouts.
