KEARNEY — The Shelton boys basketball team was honored with a certificate of achievement for their win and earning the 2024 Class D2 state championship during the Buffalo County Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, April 9.
The top-rated Bulldogs were able to topple No. 2 Maywood Hayes Center in Lincoln at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
The Bulldogs overcame their fourth-place finish in 2023, earning their first state championship since 1919 and their third overall title in boys basketball.
Chairman Ivan Klein presented a certificate of achievement to team, “in recognition of their outstanding accomplishments.”
There were five members of the team on hand to receive the certificate and were thanked by the commissioners for representing Buffalo County well.
