BROKEN BOW — Areas of Broken Bow that went without power for over 30 hours saw the lights come on during the afternoon of Friday Feb. 21.
Power was restored around 1:30 p.m. and city officials encouraged residents and businesses owners to check their property for any potential damage. It was noted that the power may cycle on and off as the system was fully restored.
According to the Broken Bow PIO, Broken Bow Mayor, and Broken Bow City Administrator it was stated that the explosion happened at approximately 6:17 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20 at the Municipal Power Plant located in the 800 block of South B Street, causing a subsequent fire.
At the time of the explosion, two city employees were inside the power plant. Both sustained minor injuries and were transported to Melham Medical Center by Broken Bow Ambulance Service out of an abundance of caution.
All of Broken Bow lost power initially, with some areas being able to be brought back online.
