KEARNEY — United Way of Kearney is hosting their first Annual United Against Hunger event on Friday Aug. 8.

Over 200 volunteers will be packing 51,000 meals throughout the day to be distributed to local food pantries.

“This event will ensure that 1200 families receive nutritious meals including macaroni and cheese, pasta and oatmeal. Each meal contains all of the nutrition and protein necessary, and the only additional ingredient required is water to make a healthy, wholesome meal. Meals will be distributed to local food pantries including: Jubilee Center, StoreHouse, Gibbon Free Pantry, United Way Little Free Pantries, Community Action Mobile Produce Pantries, Gibbon Little Free Pantries, and at an upcoming resource fair being put on by United Way in conjunction with NPPD and several other local nonprofits,” per the United Way of Kearney.

It’s a one of a kind event engaging people from 9-90 years old. It will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Kearney. (4511 6th Ave) . Stop by anytime between 1 p.m. and 8 p.m.
