KEARNEY — A Kearney man is facing four felony charges, including sexual assault, strangulation, false imprisonment and domestic violence in Buffalo County Court.
Jason Gundersen, 43, is charged with first degree sexual assault, a Class 2 felony, assault by strangulation, Class 3A felony, first degree false imprisonment, Class 3A felony, third degree domestic violence – cause bodily injury, resist arrest – first offense, Class 1 misdemeanor and obstruct a peace officer.
Gundersen was arraigned in Buffalo County Court on Friday, Sept. 5. A preliminary hearing has been set for Oct. 1 at 3:30 p.m.
Gundersen’s bail was set at 10 percent of $750,000.
The affidavit for the support of continued detention has been sealed in this case, but the complaint filed in the court record alleges that Gundersen subjected his intimate partner to sexual penetration without their consent on Sept. 4 at a location on Highway 30 in Kearney.
Gundersen is also alleged to have impeded the breathing of the person, restrain them and cause bodily injury. This would be Gundersen’s second domestic violence offense, having been convicted of the charge on Sept. 18, 2023, according to the complaint.
Gundersen was arrested and booked into the Buffalo County Jail on Sept. 4.
