No. 1 Nebraska volleyball earned its third sweep in a row with a 25-14, 27-25, 25-14 thrashing of Maryland Saturday at John Cook Arena. Rebekah Allick tied a career high with 13 kills while hitting .750. Harper Murray notched a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs, while Andi Jackson hit a blistering .800 on nine kills.
The Cornhuskers (12-0, 2-0 B1G) block was stifling with 11, led by Allick with six. Jackson had four while Allie Sczech added three. Nebraska outhit the Terrapins (7-5, 0-2 B1G), .390 to .090 and outblocked the Terps, 11-4.
Maryland started the match with a 5-3 lead, but the Huskers took over in set one, scoring five straight points to shift control. The lead opened to 18-11 late in the set and NU led 23-13 before finishing off the first set. The second set was closer, with Maryland going on a 10-3 run to tie the set at 22. The set was tied at 23, 24 and 25, before Allick and Murray terminated to finish the second.
Nebraska won the first five rallies of set three and never looked back. Leading 9-6, the Huskers tallied the next five points to build a 14-6 advantage. The Huskers led by double digits most of the latter stages of the match and cruised to their eighth sweep of the season.
Nebraska is next in action Friday at defending national champion Penn State. First serve is slated for 7 p.m., with pregame coverage at 6 p.m. on KLIN and B-107.3.
